christina mchale

christina mchale has been in the news program nowadays so i thought you may want to learn about it here.

This day at the 2009 US Open started with two major upsets. First, 17 year old Melanie Oudin of the United States bested the fourth seeded Russian Elena Dementieva 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 and second, fifth seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia lost 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6) to Yaroslava Shvedova of Russia in a 2-hour, 40-minute match. Both matches unfolded on the largest show court in the world, Arthur Ashe Stadium. The two great matches were followed by a James Blake victory over Oliver Rochus in 4 closely contested sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Blake saved three set points in the third set to overcome the Belgian with the backing of the New York City crowd.

In the night session, Maria Sharapova outmatched local favorite Christina McHale 6-2, 6-1. Sharapova didn’t look as sharp as the her first round, but it was tough for her to find her range against the up and down youngster McHale. On the men’s side, Andy Roddick steam rolled through Frenchman Marc Gicquel 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. Roddick executed the perfect game plan against the flat hitting frenchman by constantly changing paces and forcing the 32 year old Gicquel to hit the ball out of his strike zone. Until the last game, the match was virtually uneventful. In the end, it was another day at the office for Roddick. His focus turns to John Isner in round 3.
